Why is psychology considered one of the sciences?

Psychology is considered a science primarily because it observes human behavior in natural settings, allowing for systematic investigation and empirical study. This scientific approach often involves formulating hypotheses, conducting experiments, and collecting data to draw conclusions about psychological phenomena. The observation and measurement of behavior are critical components of psychological research, ensuring that findings are based on evidence rather than speculation.

In contrast, while theoretical concepts and abstract reasoning play roles in many scientific fields, they do not alone define the scientific nature of psychology. Moreover, although animal behavior can be a subject of study within psychology, the field's core is often centered on human behavior and mental processes.
